PVC-U (Unplasticised polyvinyl chloride) is one of the most popular thermoplastic materials used for pipework installations. 

Scope：

PVC-U fittings are manufactured in accordance with EN1452-3 and ISO161/1

PVC-U MM sized fittings are available in sizes from 10mm to 500mm and in a choice of pressure ratings from 6 Bar to 16 bar. Manufactured in accordance with EN1452/2 and DIN 8063 all fittings are WRAS approved for use with potable water.

Features：

Light in weight PVC-U has excellent resistance to chemicals and abrasion, is tasteless and odourless making it ideal for use with potable water systems and most food products as its extremely smooth bore gives excellent flow characteristics without sediment or deposit.

Pressure ratings for plastic pipework systems are always quoted at 20 ° C, it is a fundamental principle of such systems that if the temperature is increased then the pressure rating must be reduced.  PVC-U systems should never be used for temperatures in excess of 60 ° C.  The following chart gives a rough guide as to the temperature/pressure relationship of PVC-U pipework systems.

Lotion polymerization: the earliest method for industrial production of PVC. In lotion polymerization, in addition to water and vinyl chloride monomer, surfactants such as sodium alkyl sulfonate are added as emulsifiers to disperse the monomer in the water phase to form an lotion. Water soluble potassium persulfate or ammonium persulfate are used as initiators, and"oxidation reduction"initiator system can also be used. The polymerization process and suspension method are different. Some also add polyvinyl alcohol as an emulsion stabilizer, dodecyl mercaptan as a regulator, and sodium bicarbonate as a buffer. There are three polymerization methods: intermittent method, semi continuous method, and continuous method. The polymerization product is emulsion, and the particle size of lotion is 0.05-2 μ m. It can be directly applied or dried by spray to form powder resin. The lotion polymerization method has short polymerization cycle and is easy to control. The resin obtained has high molecular weight and uniform degree of polymerization. It is suitable for making PVC paste, artificial leather or impregnated products. The formula of lotion polymerization is complex, and the content of impurities in the product is high.
