The characteristics of CPVC are：
1. Drinking water compatibility. CPVC is a material that can be used to produce drinking water pipes. It meets ASTM standards and has been recognized by public health agencies.
2. Resistant to chlorine and biofilm. Products made from CPVC are not affected by chlorine or chlorine dioxide. CPVC pipes are not affected by extensive exposure to chlorinated water streams. Multiple international studies have shown that CPVC consistently outperforms copper and other plastic pipes (particularly polypropylene) in resisting the formation of potentially harmful biofilms.
3. Fire resistance. When faced with a fire, CPVC can provide excellent safety performance. CPVC is self-extinguishing and highly flame-resistant: its flashover temperature is 482 degrees, while wood ignites at 260 degrees or lower. Its limiting oxygen index is 60, which means it requires an oxygen concentration of 60% to burn. Air contains only 21% oxygen.
CPVC does not support combustion and resists the spread of fire and smoke. When tested against UL94 plastic flammability standards, CPVC received high ratings of V-0, 5VB and 5VA.
4. Weather resistance and heat resistance. Products made with CPVC have excellent weather resistance and are resistant to sunlight and UV radiation. They can also be coated with a protective coating for extra protection. They are also resistant to twisting or deformation when exposed to high ambient temperatures.
5. Recyclability. CPVC can be recycled downwards or recycled. Many local agreements allow CPVC to be integrated with PVC products, allowing for recycling.
