PP compression fittings
ERA Mechanical Compression Fitting is a fitting that connect piping elements which require physical force to develop a seal or
produce alignment. There are several materials of compression fittings, such as: Steel, Brass, Plastic. The most plastic material
used is PP, there are also PE or PVC compression fittings.
PP compression fittings are widely used in water supply and irrigation. ERA mechanical fittings are made by high quality PP
material with UV protection, both material and fittings are approved use with drinking water. The threaded version is BSP.
Can be installed with high density and low density PE pipes (from PE32 up to PE100)
Pipe and fittings shall be manufactured from virgid PP(polypropylene) compounds.
With an adequate combination of these fittings it is possible to design and pressure piping application of fluide with PE pipes

Compression fittings are an excellent alternative to sweating two pipes together.

The characteristics of pp plastic

1, the heat resistance is very good, pp products can be used for a long time in the high temperature environment below 100 degrees, the temperature to about 150 degrees will not be obvious deformation.

2, the density is smaller, 0.81- 0.91g/ cm 3, is the smallest density of commonly used plastics.

pp material has good mechanical properties, high heat resistance, good chemical properties, almost no water absorption, and the vast majority of chemicals do not react, pure texture, non-toxic, good electrical insulation.

3, the disadvantage is low dimensional accuracy, insufficient rigidity, poor weather resistance, it is a shrinkage phenomenon, products easy to aging, brittle and deformation.

4, the shrinkage rate is large, the shrinkage rate is 1.2-----2.5%, add 30% glass fiber to about 0.7%.

5, if stored properly, there is no need to dry treatment.

6, melt adhesive back pressure available 5bar, color powder back pressure can be adjusted.

7, melting point is 160 to 175℃, decomposition temperature is 35O℃, but in the injection processing, the temperature can not be set more than 275℃, mold temperature 50 to 90℃, for the size requirements of high die temperature, core temperature is more than 5℃ lower than the cavity temperature.

8, injection pressure, the use of high injection pressure and pressure holding pressure, pressure holding pressure is about 80% of the injection pressure. At about 95% of the full stroke, the transfer of pressure, with a longer pressure holding time.

9. Injection speed, in order to reduce internal stress and deformation, high-speed injection should be selected, but if the carved surface appears light and dark stripes diffused by the gate, low speed injection and high die temperature should be used.

10. Mold. General runner straight through 4-7mm, needle gate length 1-1.5mm, diameter can be as small as 0.7mm. The shorter the length of the edge gate, the better, is about 0.7mm, the depth is half of the wall thickness, the width is twice of the wall thickness, and with the length of the melt flow in the mold cavity gradually increases, the mold must have good exhaust, the depth of the vent hole is 0.025mm to 0.038mm, the thickness is 1.5mm, to avoid contraction marks, it is necessary to use a large and round nozzle and circular flow channel. The thickness of the stiffener should be small.

11. The viscosity of pp melt decreases obviously with the increase of shear rate, and is less affected by temperature.
